Please tell me what is the difference between a yellow onion, a white onion, a red onion, and a vidalia onion? Just curious

Yellow is the 'common' one.

Red is mainly used fresh (salads for example).

Valalia is a 'sweet' one, cut it in half, add brown sugar to it and bake till soft - serve as a side dish.
