My appetizer for the cook-off I had with Tom, inspired by the Japanese TV show Iron Chef. The not-so-secret ingredient was the garlic, which was to be used in everything we cooked, including deserts. Although our competitiveness soon wore off and we ended up helping each other (sharing ingredients and condiments, handing each other whatever kitchen tool we needed,
